Astro Magnum: Tracking Down the Shockwave Mold
Thanks to Tama for this bit of information about the "Generation One" Shockwave toy, who had a short Q&A with ToyCo who was a vendor at Tokyo Toy Show 2008.
"At Tokyo Toy Show 2008, I discovered the booth of ToyCo, who primarily manufactures model cars now, was the company that originally developed the "Astro Magnum" toy a quarter of a century before the original "G1" Transformers which was developed into the character Laser Wave."
Q: As of now, where and what has become of the metal mold of Laser Wave?
A: After the Astro Magnum was produced in South Korea, during the Transformers period, production shifted to China where the production cost was cheaper. After that, the metal mold went missing.
Q: At this time, I have one of the toys, is it possible to re-developed the metal mold from that if I offer it to you?
A: It is not impossible, but there is a problem of who owns the rights to it.
Q: Who has the rights of the mold now?
A: Presently, the rights were transfered to the other companies and we do not think that there is a thing that can be resold by our own discretion as of now.
