THE TEN STEPS TO A TEKNO MODEL
Miniature trucks from Tekno are distinguished from other scale models by their precision, details and are an exact reproduction of the original truck. Before a model can be called TEKNO, it passes through a very comprehensive and precise production process. Consequently the owner of a Tekno model may be rest assured of having a model that truly justifies the name of TEKNO. On this page you will discover in 10 steps the most important phases in the impressive and labour intensive manufacturing process we use. You will appreciate what a superb and long-lasting model you own when buying a Tekno.
1. Design
With the use of photographs (obtained by Tekno) or by using existing digital files a very detailed drawing is made, based on the requirements of the customer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Tools
Depending on the model chosen, Tekno produces a selection of tools. From these valuable tools made out of strong steel the many parts are moulded. Did you know that for some models as many as fifteen different tools are used?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Semitrailer, containers and the raw material
In addition to the plastic parts, such as the semitrailer containers, tools are required. ABS-Granulate is used, a raw material which is extremely strong, making it impossible for the model to become distorted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Parts
Plastic parts are also used for some fine detailing of each model, these are fitted to each model with extreme care.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Painting
In order to be sure that the original colours are matched on the model, we ask for the “colour references” from whoever was responsible for painting the real trucks. The painting process is almost the same as used on the real trucks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Screen Printing
The classic form of screenprinting is indispensable to the production process used by Tekno. For larger surfaces of the model this is a very good method, whereby printing of artwork in several colours can be achieved on a smooth surface.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Tampo printing
For surfaces that are too small or too irregular (for instance the corner of the cab) for screenprinting, the technique of tampo printing is an excellent alternative. By this method it is possible to correctly reproduce a logo in the smallest detail.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Assembly
Those who are impatient or lack accuracy are not wanted on the TEKNO assembly line. Mirrors, grilles, spoilers, even a fuel tank filler cap of one millimeter have to be mounted in the correct place with a total accuracy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Final check
To be certain of a superb final product, every model is checked very carefully. Have the right colours been used, are all the parts in the right place? Only after all this has been checked, can a model really have the name of Tekno.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. The Result
The long-awaited moment for the client: Tekno presents the model, completely designed to the wishes of the client (tailor-made). In the picture you can see a model truck of The Greenery, Europe’s leading commercial and logistic fresh delivery company.
